Who am I?
My name is Jemma, I am 23 years old. I work (in the UK) for 8
months of the year to save up enough money to volunteer in orphanages.
I am in Vietnam from 6th February 2009 until 30th
March 2009.
How you CAN help.
I desperately need cot mirrors, we have one mirror which gets moved to a different cot each day, the children adore having the mirror but they get it less than once a month, if you have a cot mirror that your baby has outgrown, rather than throw it away, pop it in an envelope to me (please!)
Also colourful, sensory, busy, bright, touch toys are always needed.
If you have nothing that you can post then how about donating $5 via Paypal, this will buy milk (they LOVE milk) for all the street boys or it can allow me to purchase crayons, paper and stickers for the orphans.
What do I do?
I spend a lot of my time as a volunteer, working with severely
disabled children in countries like Moldova, Romania, Cambodia and
Vietnam.
The Orphanage for children with disabilities cares for abandoned
children with mental or physical disabilities and agent orange victims
and helps to educate them to the fullest extent of their capabilities,
both physical and intellectual, and to help them, as much as possible,
towards independent living.
I also take the street boys in Vietnam roller skating
and help them with their English, it is a shelter for street children
in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. The charity provides education,
recreational activities and opportunities for street children so they
can get a job when they grow up and go back home to integrate with
their own families.
